Happy African Heritage Month :)
Here’s a powerful presentation by the late, great Dr. Runoko Rashidi, delivered on February 25th, 2008 (if I recall correctly), hosted by the Pan-African Student Union at Augsburg University. It runs about an hour and eighteen minutes - but every minute is worth it.
Dr. Rashidi was a masterful storyteller, weaving together the vast tapestry of African history with passion and precision. The more we immerse ourselves in historical and ancient wisdom, the more we expand our awareness, allowing us to reshape and refine our present beliefs. This is not just about learning history:
it’s about reclaiming our story (no matter your ethnic and cultural background) - nothing happens in isolation; all things and people are connected.
it’s about reconnecting with the depth of our lineage, and stepping into a fuller understanding of who we are.
This is an essential part of our self-re-discovery journey. Take the time, absorb the knowledge, and allow it to awaken something deep within you.
