In Beyond the Flower of Life: Advanced MerKaBa Teachings, Sacred Geometry, and the Opening of the Heart, author Maureen J. St. Germain suggest toning should be a regular part of your life. Similar to an oil change for a car, it’s a form of upkeep and maintenance for our emotional and physical body. But what is toning?
Toning and chanting bypasses the thinking brain. Resonance (vibration of resonance) tunes the entire body to the particular frequency you are chanting and toning. But remember, intention is everything. Toning or tuning as the words suggest is a form of entraining or aligning with the frequency being chanted. Also note, chanting helps align the four lower bodies. If you are familiar with yogic tradition, the four lower bodies are (1) the physical (earth), (2) etheric - which contains a higher and lower component (fire), (3) emotional (water), and (4) mental (air/space). Think of them as force fields existing around the body as layers.
(Side note: I was drawn to Maureen’s book for the MerKaBa teachings but really walked away focusing more on opening the heart. The right chanting and toning will open your heart - the seat of your soul.)
Chant of the Four Elements (El, Ka, Leem, Om)
In her book, Maureen introduces a Hathor chant called the chant of the four elements:
El - earth Ka - fire Leem - water Om - air or space
Here’s the El Ka Leem Om chant from Maureen from Youtube. As of my writing, I cannot find the website from which I purchased the chant.
Special instructions for using the Hathor Chant: When you do this chant be prepared for some surprises! Ideally you will do the whole 256 repetitions. At the minimum do cycles of 4. Why 256 repetitions? It is four squared. (44) Doing this in a group, is very powerful and by yourself is totally ok. If you can do this chant out of doors, then do that, as the elementals love this – as you are chanting their names, Earth, Fire, Water and Air in the Hathor tongue. You may feel the Hathors presence as they touch your head or hair. You may be feeling like you cannot move physically, that you are “frozen”; that means your pranic tube is getting a clearing, and your body’s “stillness” is allowing them to work with you.
I’ve worked with the chant for an average of everyday for close to a year. Here’s what I managed to create with it:
At first it was challenging to keep pace with the chant. It took at least a couple session (21 minutes each) to make the adjustment. In other words my breathing pattern changed significantly - leading me to altered states. (I am unable to measure my brainwaves, so I cannot say how they changed, e.g. gamma or alpha)
As Maureen advised focusing on our pranic tube, after becoming comfortable working with the chant (specifically my breathing), I took her suggestion. I felt a dramatic change in my tube when I moved energy up and down the channel.
During the chant or toning (as Maureen refers to it) everyone’s experience will be different; mine was a combination of all that I was going through and receiving in the course of that year. The two things that stand out:
Things buried in my unconscious began to surface. It allow me to deal with unresolved experiences and integrate them into the person I am today.
I feel like I created a deeper connection to nature and the elements (air, earth, fire, water)
She also points out that Tom Kenyon already had a version of this chant, as both of them have worked with the Hathors.
From Tom’s website:
“The Hathors, who originally communicated this information to me, say that each of the Four Elements has conscious awareness, though quite different in quality from that of humans. It is possible, according to them, to enter into an energetic communion with each of the elements, thereby opening a portal to other realms of consciousness. And indeed, that is the purpose for chanting this chant to begin with.” (from https://tomkenyon.com/chant-of-the-four-elements, published in 2010)
But is seems that Maureen and Tom don’t necessarily agree on the origins as Maureen terms it an Egyptian chant, whereas Tom says it is not:
“First of all, let me address a bit of misinformation. The sounds/words for the Chant of the Four Elements are not of ancient Egyptian origin despite the writings of some individuals.” (from https://tomkenyon.com/chant-of-the-four-elements, published in 2010)
Also note that Tom’s version is very different from what Maureen has produced - I would say in terms of sound and not content. For the most part I’ve worked with her version.
In closing - Next up
I will be working with Tom’s version. It will take some getting use to. I’ll let you know how it goes. (https://tomkenyon.com/store/ascension-codes)
